EXPERIMENTA 2011

Driven by the spirit of sharing and of making new encounters, the Arts-Sciences Biennale 2011, for the first time, hosts an Experimenta Salon, an experimental space to show technological devices that can be applied in the fields of live performances, graphic arts, creative industries (graphic art, design, communication), or for pedagogical and scientific cultural purposes.

The goal is to allow the audience to test these human-machine interface devices, which have resulted from a collaborative work between artists and scientists (some of them developed through the Atelier Arts-Sciences), or have stemmed directly from research laboratories and insitutes (CEA, INRIA, Centre Multimédia Erasme, Universities). The showcased models represent different development phases, we can find examples from technological demonstrators through stage performance extracts to real artworks.   The main idea is to give an opportunity to project holders to present their works directly and collaboratively around the installations.

Showcased technologies are focused around two main fields: light and energy, and computer and digital technologies.

Experimenta is a discovery venue for the general public, an idea sharing platform for professionals by bringing together creators of art and technology in Grenoble. Guided by the Atelier Arts-Sciences team and by Masters degree students in Scientific and Technical Communication, visitors are invited to immerse into a luminous network through an evolving scenography and similarly to a wish-tree, where they can leave a CV, a business card, a word that they were here...

Ars Electronica Center from Linz in Austria, is the special guest of this first edition.
