The Atelier Arts-Sciences activities are coordinated by a Scientific and Artistic Committee (SAC) gathering three or four times a year. It is composed of members of the Atelier and of about fifteen outside personalities from arts, culture, sciences and technologies, social and human sciences as well as from the scientific and technical world.
The SAC is in charge of supporting the Atelier in developing its research policy, it brings new perspectives by suggesting leading-edge themes, it counsels on residencies and on the Atelier's trends of research. It also supports the Atelier in its processes of work, in conceiving, elaborating and organizing residencies as well as in choosing the A.R.T.S. Prize laureates.
In parallel to the SAC, a Patronage Committee comprising French and international personalities assembles on particular occasions. Their first meeting was held at the Rencontres-i 2009.
Its missions:
- elaborating on different points of views to develop the Atelier's research policy
- counselling on the on-going projects at the Atelier Arts-Sciences
- submitting themes and names of artists to the Board of Directors
It is coordinated by Michel Ida, President of Scientific and Artistic Committee and Director of the IDEAs Laboratory® at Minatec, CEA-Leti, in charge of new programme applications and use.
Themes investigated in 2008:
- Virtual and virtualization
- Making relationship to human and social sciences operational in research and in artistic production
- Elaborating on support procedures to be considered in the operation of the Atelier Arts-Sciences
