ARTS AND SCIENCES SYMPOSIUM 2011

Symposium chaired by Thierry Ménissier and Valérie Chanal, UPMF, Grenoble
Friday, 7 October 2011 at MINATEC, in the framework of the Rencontres-i Arts Sciences Biennale 2011.

« The Role of Arts and Sciences Relationship in the Regions »

Symposium summary by Gwénola David, journalist

The Atelier Arts Sciences, after five years of experience, aims with this symposium to gain insight, through national and international experiences as well as through noteworthy theoretical lectures, in how connections between art and science can contribute to regional development. Our aim was to assess the function of art-science projects in relation to other activities in the region, such as education, economy, society, citizenship... The symposium investigated the "arts and sciences" register, still poorly explored, despite the keen interest that it evokes.
